Improve Your Ventilation
Treating mould issues with ThermoCoat Anti-Mould Paint will certainly resolve your problems but sometimes, it’s worth considering why your walls might be damp and mouldy in the first place. Often, a lack of good ventilation within the home can be the primary cause of mould forming which is why we recommend to combine our single-room AHR ventilation unit as part of any strategy to combat these problems.
The AHR Series is perfect for existing homes and can be retrofit into single or multiple rooms to increase the ventilation provision. The AHR can also replace existing extract ventilation in bathrooms to enhance the energy performance of home ventilation through heat recovery. With the AHR offering the ability to install a “stacked” system with multiple slave units in other rooms, it’s by far the easiest and most cost-effective single-room or whole-house ventilation system on the market.
How does AHR Work?
The Awenta AHR is installed through the outer walls of the desired room by coring a 100mm hole through the inner and outer skin. Sealed off on either side with ventilation grilles to prevent draughts and air leakage, the AHR is then hard-wired in by an electrician so that it can operate from mains power. Once installed, the AHR unit will automatically sense humidity and moisture, extracting stale air from the home in 60 second cycles until humidity levels are reduced to the pre-set requirements. The major benefit of the AHR is that with extracted air, comes heat loss, however, the unit recovers the heat from the stale air and supplies a fresh air intake in alternate 60 second cycles to re-energise the home with fresh, filtered and heated airflow. This makes for up to 95% efficiency and ensures that damp, mould and condensation are rapidly eliminated to provide health benefits to the house and its occupants.
How To Treat Mould:
We never recommend simply painting over mould because this doesn’t kill the harmful spores that can lead to health issues such as asthma and other allergens. Instead, follow these simple steps to banish the dangers of mould in your home to a problem of the past.
- ALWAYS wear a disposable face mask, gloves, and goggles.
- USE ThermoCoat Mould Wash to scrub the spores from your walls and ceilings.
- ALLOW the surfaces to be fully dry before preparing to paint with ThermoCoat Anti-Mould.
- MIX ThermoCoat Anti-Mould thoroughly before use to ensure the paint is consistent.
- APPLY the first coat of ThermoCoat Anti-Mould to the specified surfaces.
- WAIT 4 hours before applying the second coat to reach the final required thickness.
- REMEMBER that each tin will cover 10 square metres of surface area.
- LEAVE to fully dry and cure at which stage ThermoCoat Anti-Mould will work to banish mould.
